Class Info
Beginning Hatha
Traditional Hatha yoga taught so as to be accessible to new students. Classes progress from simple stretches to warm and loosen the body into more challenging poses to help build strength and improve balance. This class is designed to be appropriate for any level student, but caters to the student new to yoga so they can practice without fear of being lost.
Restorative
I often say the hardest thing that I, or any teacher will ask is for you “to do nothing”. Restorative yoga is the practice of surrender into a pose without using muscle or searching for a deep stretch. It is the practice of simply allowing the body to open slowly with the aid of props and stillness. It’s the ideal practice for learning to quiet the mind and find rest enabling the body to untie the knots of being human.
Nidra
The practice of yogic sleep, wherein the body is neither asleep, nor awake, but hovering in between the realms of consciousness and unconsciousness. Diving into the inner reaches of the mind allows for the practitioner to create meaningful change and encourage the body to tap into its natural healing processes. The practice begins with light stretching to help the body find stillness in rest, and then snuggling into savasana for an guided meditation that will offer the body the opportunity to let go while you explore the vastness of your mind.
Hot Yoga & Yin
Hatha yoga practiced in a room heated to 105. The practice begins with standing poses challenging the practitioner’s balance and flexibility and ends with floor poses that open and strengthen the body; however, this is where the practice diverges from the militant style of other traditions. Class begins with 60 minutes of a heated hatha, followed by 30 mins of yin. Yin incorporates deep tissue stretching that opens the myofascia and improves range of motion. Students are encouraged to discuss with their healthcare professionals whether this practice is appropriate for them.
Intermediate
This class allows for the practice to be linked with breath and movement. Typically, this is a faster paced class where poses are held for few breaths and often movement happens quickly. The practice is meant to be a moving meditation in which the practitioner can move through their body without overthinking. The class is taught for all levels, though may be challenging for students new to the mat (having a few Beginning Hatha classes prior to flow is highly recommended). Students can expect to explore more challenging poses such as arm balances or inversions, challenge their balance, build strength and flexibility.
Private Sessions
These classes are tailored to the needs of the individual, couple, or group to facilitate the goals of the client.
